After gorging on an every hotels’ English brekkie (plus pastries, porridge and the works), take a lazy saunter to the National Gallery, just moments from the hotel, for your daily dose of unfathomable cultural amazingness. Open 361 days a year, its paintings range from the 13th to 19th centuries, and are light-years away from anything you’ve seen before.

2. Carnaby Street

There’s still some breakfast to work off so take a 10 minute stroll from Trafalgar Square to Carnaby Street and surrounds, which you’ll find buried halfway between the shopping mecca of  Oxford Street and the maze of Soho. Here you’ll find hipster boutiques from the likes of Dr Martens, Dahlia and Jack Wills, to the inimitable Liberty department store and Cowshed Spa. Stick around for lunch and you’ll be spoiled for choice, with vegetarian hangout Mildreds (the Sri Lankan curry wins every time), London’s best £10 steak at Flatiron, and Crumbs & Doilies cupcakes for that post-shopping sugar high.

3. The Book of Mormon

Head back to the room for some Netflix and chill (we’re talking about the Smart TV and superfast WiFi, of course), before heading pretty much next door to The Book of Mormon. This religious-based satire is one of the most talked about triumphs around, and, being so close to the hotel, you could probably get away with going in your slippers. But, come on, you’re on holiday, so fix up, look sharp, and get ready for a ritzy evening in Theatreland.

4. Cahoots

With every hotel Piccadilly smack bang in all the action, you may not need to take the tube at all. But if this leaves you feeling the FOMO, make tracks for Cahoots, an intimate little speakeasy set in a disused underground station for the next best thing. As their motto goes, ‘It don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got no swing!’ so dress up, chill out, and get set to dance the night away at this cool little local hideaway.

5. El Camion

If all that dancing’s made you hungry, head to El Camion for late-night Mexican munchies. Go for the Chicken Tinga Tacos or Yucatan Beef Enchiladas (which they serve ‘til 2am, by the way), while goading your friends to get down and daring with one of the hundreds of chilli sauces that pepper the wall. Sink a couple of post-dinner tequilas then head downstairs for last orders at The Pink Chihuahua Cocktail Bar.
