It’s not always easy to stay on top of your fitness regime while travelling, plus the eating out in delicious restaurants and go-on-have-one cocktail happy hours can wreak havoc on even the most abstemious out there. No need to panic in London though, as the city offers all varieties of sports classes on one-off bases, which you can drop in and out of as you see, well, fit…

One of the most sociable and fun way of burning off the stress and excess has got to be a dance class at the legendary Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. From hip-hop to middle-eastern, jazz and tap, capoeira or ballet, this studio caters to all availabilities and ambitions. Covered form an old pineapple warehouse back in 1979, there are around 200 classes every week that you can simply show up and show off for.

Just a little further down the river in Westminster you’ll find Danceworks, a friendly studio at the forefront of London’s learning-to-dance scene. Offering ballet, yoga, ballroom, tap, tango, Zumba and everything in the alphabet between, pretty much, Danceworks also offer drop-in classes catering to all levels, from the two-left footed to the truly twinkle-toed.

If you’re more able on stable ground but not brave enough to risk the racing London traffic, Psycle could be the (night)club you’re looking to join. Psycle migrated over from the States and combines cycling with aerobics with dancing - you might have to swing by one of the classes to understand what’s meant by that. Taking place in a darkened studio, participants cheer, chant and chorus along to dance tunes and, of course, cycle until they are puristically spinning off the handlebars.

For the dedicated yogis out there who have forgotten their mat and/or would just like to find a community on their travels, Triyoga runs drop-in classes in Soho covering pilates, barre techniques, vinyasa, ashtanga, hot yoga and many more options for the stiff and creaky to unwind the muscles and unravel the mind.
Failing all of that, many of the capital’s gyms - such as the YMCA - offer day passes that allow access to the pool, gym and certain classes.

every hotel Piccadilly is located right in the heart of London, just a step, hop or skip away from all of these classes and more - what better excuse to pay us a visit and do your fitness levels a favour?
